The Concept
The installation consists of simplified forms that remind us of paper cut out puppets. They are playful, inviting and interactive. The overall shapes, gestures and colors of these figures remind us of Matisse’s cut outs and the mobile qualities of Calder. The shapes remind us also of natural forms found in nature, such as leaves and tree trunks.
The figures are compromised of a mix of surfaces and angles. Light and shadow play off each other on the surfaces as the intensity of daylight changes. With the geometric quality of the figures shapes shift from abstract to figurative from different views.
This installation uses secondary colors. This blending of the three primary colors represent the diversity in all of us. The colors carry phychological triggers of joy, love, vitality, freedom, peace, light, hope, health, gratefulness, security, and creativity. They also reflect the parks seasonal color changes; spring crocussen, summer greens, autumn leaves and winter frost.
The public interacts with the pieces by rotating them creating new dialogues as it were.
